Business Server 2003 Premium. It has all the necessary steps including =
screen shots for a smooth install. It has a few special tips and tricks =
that won't be found easily, and here you will have them all in one big =
document. It also has a Troubleshooting part, in case the install =
doesn't go as expected. A very big thanks to J=FCrgen Beck, Microsoft =
CRM-MVP, for answering my numerous questions and explaining some basics =

How to publish a FTP site on SBS 2003 [Public article & Subscriber PDF =
download]
This article discusses how to publish a FTP site on a SBS 2003 Premium =
server with ISA 2004 SP2. You should only publish a FTP site on your SBS =
2003 Premium server if you understand the risks. Passwords are send in =
plain text. This means that anyone with a packet sniffer can unreveal =
the password transmitted when logging on to a FTP site. The following =
chapters are included:=20
a.. How to publish a FTP site on SBS 2003=20
b.. Install the FTP server service on SBS 2003=20
c.. Configure the FTP server in IIS=20
d.. Securing the FTP site=20
e.. A user account for the customer with the name 'Joe' should be =
created.=20
f.. Tracey should be added to the FTP Administrators group so that she =
has full control over all files on the FTP server.=20
g.. Create subfolders in the FTP root folders and apply permissions to =
those folders=20
h.. Create a server publishing rule in ISA 2004=20
i.. Limiting the IP addresses that can connect to the FTP server
Installing ISA 2004 update 916106 caused services to stop and not to =
start
You may have already noticed that if you install "Update for HTTP Issues =
for Microsoft ISA Server 2004 Standard Edition with Service Pack 2" some =
services are stopped and that you are not informed about this. After =
installing the patch you will need to restart:
a.. Microsoft Exchange Routing Engine=20
b.. World Wide Web Publishing Service=20
c.. Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP)
You will either need to restart those services manually or you can =
reboot the server.
On what platform is www.smallbizserver.net build and how did you make =
the site?
I get this question a lot by email from users who want to build a site =
themselves. The site runs on Dotnetnuke 4.0.3 and .Net 2.0. If you want =
to make a site yourself have a look at www.dotnetnuke.com for more =
information. The site runs on Windows 2003 x64 R2 and SQL 2005 x64 SP1. =
You can see some pictures of the server in the XS4ALL datacenter.
New authors and co-authors
We are very proud to announce that Dana Epp and J=FCrgen Beck join us on =
writing content for the site. Dana is Security MVP and J=FCrgen is CRM =
MVP. More biographies about the authors on the site can be found here.=20
