hallo, I have this problem : after moving to new sbs2000 XP workstations
keeps loosing connection after 10 - 15 minutes. i have seen some threads
here (from 22th july by Aidyn for example) which seems to me are about the
same problem - people even try to help there, but in fact I have tried all I
have found :

-NIC of XP computers are set to autodetect speed (if autodetect is autosence
as people said what to do)
- i have set autodisconnect period to 300minutes with no proof

please, would enaone help? costumer is becoming angry...

thanks

Hello,

Are the XP workstations all using the same network adapter? (ie. the same
brand and model of computer)

More important, could you do the following for us and attach the results in
a subsuquent post:

1. Open a command prompt.
2. From the server and one of the workstations run the following command:
ipconfig/all > ipconfig_server.txt and then ipconfig/all > ipconfig_ws.txt.

Note that the .txt files will be saved in the current folder within that
command prompt.

Get rid of the 192.168.1.200 DNS-number on your servernic. There should only
be the IP of your server.

How do you know they are losing the connection?

Make sure you've installed the patches listed here:

Hello,

If I'm reading the ipconfig information from the workstation correctly, the
DNS server is listed as 192.168.1.200, when the server's IP address is
192.168.1.2. I would recommend changing the DNS server option in the scope
options for DHCP to 192.168.1.2. This should help the clients (particularly
the Windows 2000 and XP clients) to remain in contact with the SBS 2000
server. Let us know how this goes.
