Hi

i still have got windows 98 clients on my network.

I would like to know how do i delete the windows password
it creates when i log onto the machine. I thought it was
a *.pwd file sitting on the hard drive but am not sure.
Or is it part of the windows profile? Do i need to
delete the profile to delete this windows password?

thanks

It is held in the *.pwl file - where * = login name. Just delete the
individual file - gets recreated the next time you login with the
relevant name.

Normally located in c:\windows

If memory serves, delete the .pwl file as Hiram says, then reboot, log back
on as the user and when it asks for a windows password, press Enter without
entering any password. This should set the Windows password to "blank" and
Windows 98 won't prompt you again for a password for that profile.
