Hello,

I have a client who is running sbs2003 and one of the users wants to enable
some of the other users to see her inbox but not the subfolders within this.
I have tried several things and everytime I get the same result which is
people being able to see her inbox as well as the sunbfolders so do I need
to make a change on the server or via the outlook client.

Any ideas would be much appreciated.

Thanks

Jase

As far as I can tell...you can't limit it to just the inbox folder

You could move the subfolders to their own main folder off the mailbox =
instead of subfolders to inbox...

Are you setting the permissions on the item called "Mailbox - Username?" =
You should be able to set permissions on the Inbox without effecting =
any other folder. If you bring up the properties of the Inbox and set =
the permissions, then drill down to the subfolders permissions, you'll =
see that the subfolder permissions have not changed.

Then the other users would click File -> Open -> Other User's Folder. =
That'll bring up the shared Inbox in its own window, with no way to =
drill down to a lower-level folder even if it was shared.

Not that you asked, but IMO they should be using an appropriately =
configured public folder for this. All the confidential messages in =
that subfolder went through the Inbox first, so you're relying on the =
diligence of the sharing user in getting confidential messages out of =
the Inbox before the others see them. If the sharing user is out of the =
office, others will see all the messages, since Exchange will not =
require Outlook to be open on the sharing user's computer - they'll have =
full access to the Inbox at any time.
