hi:

i run win2k sbs which users logon to domain and they're by default
"restricted users" on their own computers.

i need to grand a laptop user access rights to change lan setting so that he
can change the ip settings while he's at different locations. so i now try
to set him up as power user. i logged onto the laptop as an administrator
and tried to add the user to the power user group; but i received the error
message:

"The user could not be added because the following error has occurred:
The trust relationship between this workstation and the primary domain
failed."

what does it mean? i can see this laptop from the server side but i don't
see anyway to "trust" this laptop?

thanks in advance,
gary

Disjoin the laptop from the domain and re add it again.

Hi,

An alternative to disjoining and rejoining the machine to the domain is
to reset the secure channel between the machine and the domain.
You can use the netdom command to do this function.
