Help!

There is no info on how you upgrade from SBS to the full blown
version.

In particular do I have to kill my SBS server and then install the
individual transition versions

What I want to do is to have a separate SQL service and initially we
want to disable SQL server on the SBS system and install SQL on one of
my Windows 2000 clients.

I've got a consultant implementing uSoft CRM who thinks the max data
set for SBS is not big enough.

Information on SBS is very hard to come by.

Ok... first of all: "the max data set for SBS is not big enough". What max
data set? Are you talking about SBS2000? There is no SQL limit on SBS2k (or
2k3 for that matter).

IMHO-> Even if you decide that you don't need SQL on the SBS box... I think
is way cheaper if you simply purchase an additional SQL + CALs and add it to
the SBS domain.

Also, here's a white paper on using the Migration Pack (if that's what you
want)->

You don't specify which version of SBS you have

SQL2000 that comes with SBS is retail SQL2000 period

SBS transition to full by tde_junk

From what I can find MSDE has those limits - so I'm a happy camper.

We do have the full blown SBS 2000.

and Open License - so we should eventually upgrade to SBS2003.

I guess the only advance of breaking out of SBS is that I can create
(2) active directory structures ?

We only have 20+ users so I don't see any other advantages.

Yes. MSDE is limited to 2GB (or something like that).

Well... I don't see that as an "advantage" in your scenario :-)

Definitely SBS is for you. Glad you have sorted it out!
