Can you give some more details about this message? Anything in the
eventlogs? How many nics in the server? How are you connecting to the
internet?

Sounds like your monitor is having problems with the resolution or frequency
set by the video card. You might try configuring these settings to
different values in your display adapter settings. Reinstalling the video
drivers may also help if the drivers are corrupt. Since this appares to be
intermittent, your monitor or video card may also be going out. Not sure,
but it seems to me that power fluctuations can also cause this problem.

Hi Merv, Marina,

I suspected the video resolution, being an older monitor, just couldn't find
anything to substantiate it. Thanks for the help it's really appreciated.
By the way, Marina, the config is as follows:

SBS 2k
2 nics lan / WAN to adsl router to adsl modem
Nothing appearing in the event log, but I think as a matter of fact, Merv
has confirmed my suspicion that the monitor is the culprit.

Thanks again to all for your prompt support

Best regards

GB

Merv,

At first I thought you were replying to another message. How come you think
it might have something to do with the monitor?

If the monitor can't handle either the resolution setting or refresh
frequency set by the video adapter, I believe it may exhibit the "Sync out
of range" errors. The monitor or video card may also be malfunctioning and
present this error. Could be a video driver problem too. Best way to
troubleshoot may be to configure the settings to 800x600 and 60 MHz and see
if the error goes away.
