We seem to be having problems with our SBS 2000 email
taking sometimes a day to deliver. using pop3 and smtp
delivery - pop3 OK, but smtp problem.

Looked at exchange , server, protocols, SMTP, (Small
business smtp connentor)- properties says "An internal
DNS error caused a failure to find the remote server".

Any pointers please?

Jim

Hi Jim,

If you could post the results of ipconfig /all (run from a dos box on the
SBS) I think we could identify the misconfiguration. Or if you prefer, look
at this: choose your particular setup and follow the examples.

I've just typed it out. This is the one that matters I
think.

Ethernet local area connection:

Realtek rtl.....
Adapter
Physical Address..............00-03-ed-95-d8-10
DHCP Enabled..................No
IP Address....................10.10.1.1
Subnet Mask...................255.0.0.0
Default Gateway...............:
DNS servers...................10.0.0.1
Primary WINS Server...........10.0.0.1

Hi Jim,

I think you can just change the ip address on the nic, and then re-run two
items on the todo list:

Configure IIS, and ICW (Internet Connection Wizard).
