Hi
I have to rollover an sbs2000 server to a new server that will also run
sbs2000. I want to retain the same internal domain name and also thesame
server name. Are there any pitfalls that need to be considered (eg SIDs for
the existing workstations) and if so can it be worked around. Is there an
easy way to do this?

Hi Allan,

The migration documentation from Microsoft don't allow you to keep the same
servername. You could however setup the new box as a DC of the old SBS (so
just run the first part of the setup), transfer the FSMO roles and continue
setup. But that will also mean you still have to change the servername.
If you want to keep the servername and domain name in tact, you might have a
look at the Swing It method from Jeff Middleton at www.sbsmigration.com.
Sign up and you will get some more information on that.
