Can some one advise on how to setup VPN on our SBS2003.

Objective: Home users should be able to access the folders on the SBS2003
located in the office. The home users are equipped with XP Laptops and an ISP
connection via Cable or DSL services providers.

SBS2003: This server's NIC is assigned 192.168.x.y and this server is also
connected to DSL router provided by "Speakeasy". They have given us a static
IP 68.236.c.d

The question is what are the steps I should take to acheive the above
objective. I have gone through www.smallbizserver.net but not much of help.
It says,I should use ISA Management snap in to enable the VPN. I did not find
such snap-in on my SBS2003.
Any help is appreciated.

Hi Galop,

FYI: the SBS 2003 newsgroup is microsoft.public.windows.server.sbs

Are you using 2 nics in the server? Do you have the RRAS node in Services
and Applications of the ComputerManagement, Advanced Management in
ServerManagement?

After the new changes in the newsgroup appearance, I am finding it difficult
to locate the correct discussion forums.

Anyway, the answer is YES, I have the RRAS configured and running properly.
I have configured the VPN server part here when I could not locate the ISA
management snap-in. After this, when I try to connect from a cleint I get the
"Error 800: Unable to establish VPN......"
I am using one NIC only which is connected to a switch. The DSL port is also
connected to this switch. All the office LAN users also connected to this
switch and share the resources on the SBS2003 and the internet.

There are a bunch of articles at www.smallbizserver.net in the network
section. I use this article
http://www.smallbizserver.net/Default.aspx?tabid=50 When you read that
you will see it uses 2 nics. I always use 2 nics.

Hi Galop,

If you are not using a firewall and only have 1 nic, your network is
protected by nothing at all. Didn't you see the warning when you ran CEICW?
Do you have ISA? Put in at least a 2nd nic and connect your DSL modem to it.

Thanks Jim and Marina. I will get the second NIC for the server and resume
the discussion with a fresh thread if I am into trouble.
