currently have an sbs 2k server running at a client's place with only one
scsi drive in it.
would like to stick in another 2 drives to give RAID functionality. can i
use any scsi drives or do they have to be by the same manufacturer?
it's a dell server

Its recommended that you get an identical hd for the raid
setup...are you going to mirror? Mirror would still work
if the drives were different.

It would be optimal to have same manufacturer but it is not required.

Is the Server still under warranty from Dell?
If yes, its in your client's best interest to purchase the identical drive
from Dell.
If no, SCSI drive of same specs will do just fine.

BTW, you probably know this: but you need a RAID card to do this (unless you
plan to do software mirroring and it's just one more drive).
