Hi, i installed vnc server on a client which is behind my isa server and i
try to connect a vnc viewer which is out of my lan but i can't reech it.

I created "server publishing rules" for ports 5500, 5800 and 5900 but
without success.

Any ideas ???

PS sorry for my poor english but i am french :)))

I would NOT do this. VNC is not the most secure remote
admin tool in the world. I would instead set up a VPN in
to their environment - THEN you could VNC in to the
machine. I know that seems like a lot, but that is what
I would recommend.

Christophe:

As Ted said, VNC is not a secure means of communiaction so use it in
conjunction with a VPN only. Also, the VNC server is the target computer
you want to contact; the VNC viewer is on client on your network and is used
by your client computer to connect to the target computer after the VPN is
established.

Generally, there are better ways to remote control computers.

What OS is on the target computer?
What OS is on the target computer's server?
What OS is on the client computer on your network?
What OS is on the server on your network?

Thanks for your response,

VNC server is on the client computer on my network (it is the target). OS
is win2000
OS Server on my network is SBS2003
VNC viewer is on a remote computer running win2000

Well, VNC will work but actually I've had better luck with Netmeeting and a
VPN. Some may dispute the use of Netmeeting but my experiences have been
positive, with a few exceptions.
