i am trying to follow the following document and i have a few questions
regarding this

http://www.smallbizserver.net/Default.aspx?tabid=151

the bit where it says the following:

f. Check to make sure the External NIC IP address is not included in the LAT
range.

SBS Console | Internet Security and Acceleration Server 2000 | Servers and
Arrays | | Network Configuration | Local Address Table (LAT)

the question i have is - if my internal network is set to 10.1.1.10 and my
external network is set to 192.168.1.2 what should i put in the range in the
lat to exclude the external nic?

IIRC, in SBS 2000, the LAT defaults to 3 ranges of addresses: 10.X.X.X,
172.16.X.X, and 192.168.X.X

The LAT (Local Address Table) must only include "local" IP addresses. So
the LAT would contain an IP range of 10.0.0.0 to 10.255.255.255.

All other IP ranges (172.16.x.x and 192.168.x.x) can be deleted from the LAT
unless you have a specific need for them (like maybe assigning static IPs to
VPN connections).
