    - Help! Mirror boots only from floppy Trying to move a functioning SBS 2000 onto a new (larger) hard drive. No problem, right? Just insert the new drive and build a mirror from Disk Manager. Then power down, remove the power cable from the original drive and power up. No boot. If I copy the boot files onto a floppy, the drive boots fine. I've verified that the files are indeed present on the hard drive, and the floppy's boot.ini actually works unaltered. What am I missing? If it boots from the floppy, boot.ini unaltered, it should be something wrong with the MBR, no? (unusual side note: booting from CD into the Recovery Console shows winnt as being drive "F" instead of "C" like I would have thought. Running fixboot and fixmbr has no effect. Booting into Windows from the floppy and looking at Disk Mgr shows "C" and "E" like they should be, and reports no problems.) Thanks for any insight...this problem is getting old fast.     - Forcing user logoff How can I force a user logoff & close open files? I have a user that insists on leaving files open at night. I have open files option running on the backup, but the user's system crashes periodically because he leaves documents open for weeks at a time. I think that forcing him to log on once a day at least may resolve the problem. Setting the Logon Hours (denied 12:00 - 1:00 am) through AD did not seem to help; it appears to deny logon during those hours, but not force the user off. Tag: Is it a part of Windows 2003?     - problems with WIn2K3 domain controller I recently dcpromo'd our Win2K3 server to a domain controller. It now acts as a backup for our Win2K Small Business Server . This win2K3 server also has Veritas backup software installed and is our backup server primarily - and now a backup DC. Ever since it has been a backup DC, the backup jobs have had problems. I am wondering if it has to do with the refreshing of the active dir from teh primary DC. Where can I set/change the refresh of the active driectory on my backup domain controller?     - Panda AdminSecure ISA I recently installed Panda AdminSecure verson 3.02 on my SBS 2000 server. Panda has a virus signature repository on the server which it frequently updates from it's website. The problem I have is that ISA is blocking the automatic updates from accessing the internet. If I enable the "Allow all" protocol rule in ISA the update works correctly. Does anyone know the correct way to configure ISA so these updates work properly?     - Implementing External RAID Hello, SBS2K. I am thinking about implementing a RAID system for my server. I need to install something external because of the lack of room inside of the machine. I am not looking for a lot of storage, simply about 80GB or so. Also, since my office is so small, if the costs are too great, I am willing to punt on hot swappable part. What I am asking is what type of issues do I need to be looking at? I need to learn all of the different specifications and what each is for.     - Unable to allow OWA via the ICW When I re-run the ICW, the tick boxes to allow internet users access to my "web based mail server" are greyed out. Consequently users cannot use OWA remotely.     - Logon Failure: the target account name is incorrect I have a customer running SBS2003 at the root of a domain with a win 2000 server across a VPN running active directory in the same domain as a global catalog server. The problem is when you try to access the SBS2003 server from the end with the win 2000 server (either a mapped drive or through network neibourehood) you get the error â??LOGON FAILURE: THE TARGET ACCOUNT NAME IS INCORRECTâ?? Both servers are logged on as administrator (the same active directory account) Also when clients in the SBS2003 end try to access other clientâ??s outlook calendars They get an error unable to connect to exchange server.     - Multi-homed Setup SBS2000 {This is an x-post. I have no idea how to link it to my other post which is 4 days dead with no replies. I'm assuming that at this point an x-post is allowed though not endorsed.} Hi, I'm trying to setup a development instance of a clients full fledged multi-home server in Windows 2000 Small Business Server. It's a multi-homed server and no matter what I do I cannot get around IP address conflicts on the WAN adapter. Can someone explain to me how to get around this portion of setup succesfully.     - Automated backup I wish to make a simple automated backup of a 2000 server. I wish to just put in a tape and the backup to run at a predetermined time using windows backup.     - Protect Exchange Server on sbs2000 I volunteer as my church network guy and inherited a sbs2000, with 2 nics, Symantec Corp 9.0 and a Symantec 300 series appliance.     - Internal Nic goes down?? Hello, Here is my configuration. SBS 2000, ISA Server 2 NICs (one external, one internal)... Here's the problem. Every so often, the internal NIC will go down (cannot access the computers on the internal nic, etc). The only way to fix this is to disable and re-enable the internal nic. (This will happen every couple of hours... sometimes for a full day... It worked all day yesterday, but then today it has gone down twice in the past 4 hours)... Has anyone found a solution to this? Or any ideas on where i can look? I have tried installing a different NIC... problem still happens with the 2nd (and 3rd) internal NIC.     - dyndns.org question Hi Everyone, I've been using DNS2GO.COM for a few clients but lately, I started having VPN/RDP problems. People here suggested DynDNS.org instead. I registered and downloaded a client (Direct Update 3.6.3) that works perfectly with my home/office PC but doesn't work with SBS 2000. I think it is an ISA or router issue. The server has two NICs (internal 192.168.16.2, external 192.168.123.2). I have a router (192.168.123.254) between the ext. NIC and the DSL modem.     - Repeated emails in the Incoming and inforward folders Hi This issue has be addressed in other mails. The general consenses seems to indicate a corrupt email which when removed and the pop3 connector service restarted the emails will flow. I have tried this and it works. However, a week later the queues build up again. This only started happening a few weeks ago. Now i do not mind a corrupt email or two. But surely this is not ment to keep happening. I would like to know how should I proceed to troubleshoot this issue if it keeps reaccuring. Or is a reinstall of the pop3 connector the best option?     - Script error with sp1a installer Hi I have a SBS 2000 server with service pack 4 and exchange sp3 loaded.I went to reinstall the Windows SBS sp1a and it came up with the error message about the 125 MB disk space. It transpired that the client app folder had been moved to the D drive and that the registry had not been updated. I moved it back to it's original location on the c drive and reshared the folder according to article 327988. The installer ran fine but came up with the following error "Error 1720: There is a problem with this windows installer package. A script required for this install to complete could not be run.     - No POP3 through ISA server I've got an SBS 2000 server running exchange & ISA along with file & print sharing. I'm trying to setup POP3 services for external users. I've configured the necessary ISA filters but It still doesn't work. I can connect to the POP3 server from the LAN and can also telnet to the POP3 server from the LAN. However, from the WAN side I can't login to the POP3 server, nor can I telnet to the POP3 server, it simply says "Connect to host lost.". I can telnet to the SMTP server from outside.     - Sending mail stays in Outbox until clicking on folder I have setup a fresh installation SBS 2000 with 25 windows XP clients with Office 2000.     - SBS2003 server replication I have an SBS2003 web server running IIS6 and SQL2000. My company wants a secondary server that this server can replicate to so if anything happens to it, we can just change a few router settings and the replication server can take over. (Yes, I know that it is crap but I did not order it). It has been passed around to several different users and started acting squirrely so I formatted it and went to reload XP. Found out then that the CDROM is bad. THis is one of those computers that are built out of laptop parts to make a slim desktop. The replacement CDROM is no longer available. I thought that I might be able to pick up a USB CDROM and boot to that. The only USB Boot option in the BIOS is USB FDD.     - Prob with the services Hi All When I try to use the Services snap-in to start or stop any service, I'd receive the following error message: Error 1053: The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion. I am the Domaine Admin and unable to things on this server. I looked at this KB: Error Message "Error 1053" When Using the Services Snap-in http://support.microsoft.com/?id=278712 This wasn't helpful to me because even if I waited 5 hours, restarted the server and so on, not a single service has started.
