New VXA-2 drive (with V10 tape) in SBS2K server. Backing up C:, Exchange,
and system state with normal backup. Backup appears to run smoothly (I don't
see any error messages in the ntbackup log), but the backup of C: ends with
the following event log error:

Event Type: Error
Event Source: NTBackup
Event Category: None
Event ID: 8001
Date: 1/9/2004
Time: 7:13:21 PM
User: N/A
Computer: MyServer
Description:
End Backup of 'C:' Verify: Off Mode: Replace Type:
Normal

Exchange and system state backups do not produce errors. I haven't tried to
restore from the tape. Anyone seen this before?

Thanks,
KR

Kevin,
Had same issue on our own SBS2k server. I *think* it means that not all the
selected files/folders could be backed up - change your log report to full
detail and check again. The message seems to be more of a warning rather
than indicating a total backup fail.

Norm,
Thanks for the response. I do have the log set to full detail. There are
about 70 files that are skipped because they are in use (which doesn't seem
unreasonable). Looking through the log again I did find a couple of errors
such as this:

<snip>
Error: You do not have permission to access portions of
C:\WINNT\Temp\LB49.tmp.
Please see the owner or administrator to get permission.
Warning: Unable to open the file \WINNT\Temp\LB49.tmp - skipped.
<end snip>

Maybe it is normal for ntbackup to state "error" in the application event
log whenever there is any type of error message in the backup log, I'm not
sure. I guess I should exclude the temp folder from being backed up.

Thanks,
Kevin
