The product license for using the SQL that comes with SBS is tied to not
only the installation of the SBS server OS and related configuration, it
requires that the SBS be the DC of the domain, and that all clients using
the SQL be properly licensed clients to the SBS.....and....that the SBS
licenses apply to all computers in the domain.
You should not be thinking of the SQL as a separate product, it's a feature
you have available when you install an SBS server and include the SQL
feature with it. The options you have to install or not install components
offered in the package are all clearly indicated in the install
process....after you install the Windows OS, make it a DC, and configure the
baseline SBS setup. That invokes the SBS licensing model, that makes the
rest of the configuration conform to the license you bought. Any other
method is a potential license violation, as is connecting the SQL on a
server without following that process.
