Today a customer has had trouble getting there e-mail/isa
working. In the services all the exchange services
(except pop3 connector), ISA Server Control Manager, DHCP
and DNS server all will not start. If I start them
manually i get a report of the service did not start due
to an invalid file.

I have tried restoring the ad (system state), but this
isnt working. I tired removing and adding both dns and
dhcp, but they still wont run. the rpc says it is
running, but some event logs seem to point to this bieng
an error. I tried running the internet connection wizard
for sbs,. but the ISA manager returns a fault too,.. I
have set the nics in the correct binding/provider order,
but still nothing.

Has anyone got any ideas?

Was it working before?
Anything in the eventlogs?
Can you post the ipconfig/all from the server?

in the event log (You will have to excuse me because its
from memory) it reveals that the service stopped due
to "an incorrect parameter", this happens with the
following services,.. DHCP Server and ISA Server Control.
DNS Runs, but will not connect, probably because the DHCP
is down. When i Run exchange services they all report
that it couldnt run due to a dependency service not
running.

Yes it was working fin for months before Tuesday
afternoon.

The IP Config all shows the Local Netowrk card config all
correct, then the WAN all correct. The provider order is
correct, and the ip address, etc,.. are all correct and
no different than a couple of days ago.

If DHCP is down, almost everything will be down. You really will have to
look in the eventlogs to get some more information about the errors.

I couldnt get anywhere with it,. so i have a good backup
on dds and at the moment I am in the process of re-
installing SBS 2000 and restoring the system state,
exchange etc,.. once the sbs installation is complete.

Thanks
