Hi Mike,
In short that is indeed what you can do. You will have to make sure that the
FSMO roles are being transferred to the new server. Point is, that your
servername is going to change and this will break the existing links to data
folders and program folders. Workstations will need modifications.
If you have a temporary server, you can use the Swing It method from Jeff
Middleton and install the new server with the old servername. That way the
links won't break and your workstations don't need any modification at all.
The network will only be down for a few hours to move the Exchange databases
and shared files.
