Hi there,

I have a SBS2000 server that has outgrown its current hardware. Is there a
good how-to on migrating an existing Small Business Server 2000 to new
Hardware while preserving all the settings.....

TIA

Tony

there are a sizeable number of posts about this in the NG. As far as I can
see, the permutations and combinations of current set-up, migration
requirements, new hardware specs etc, etc make it a close-on unique scenario
for each set-up.

Suffice to say there is no Microsoft procedure, Tool, Wizard or White Paper
on SBS2K platform migration.

Your best bet is to set aside a couple of hours and then search through this
newsgroup and read and read and read. The key contributor on this subject
is a guy called Jeff Middleton, so a search on his name will more than start
you in the right direction.

I am going through this pain barrier at the moment, but rather than scratch
some brief random notes here on this (at the risk of being shot down in
flames!!) I suggest you read it up yourself to determine what applies best.

There are a couple of threads I started in the past 4 weeks or so that Jeff
and Supergumby have made significant contributions to.

Good luck
Gerry

One other thing Tony - you may want to change your email address you are
giving out in your posts to a spoof one, so that you don't get spammed by
newsgroup email-address harvesters.
