I have a user whose computer crashed and they've now been updated from
W2K Pro to XP Pro. (That in itself was a nightmare but we'll leave that
for another day).
The user name has also been changed from firstnamesurname to firstname
for this particular user. The user is able to logon to the network on
the XP machine with firstname/password without problem.
When the user tries to poll his mailbox, it is rejected as bad
user/password.
I've telnetted to the pop3 server and tried to logon using his name and
password and receive the same result.
I'm stuck as to what to do. The user has mails arriving as we speak and
cannot access them. I was under the understanding that changing the
password (reset password on user in Acive Directory) also changed the
pop3 logon passwords. If it does (or is supposed to) it isn't
happening.
I'm using SBS2000 with Exchange 2000. All service packs etc. have been
applied.
I'd appreciate some help asap!
Mike
