Any errors logged?

Try going to Network Connections. For the LAN connection, verify that the
tcp/ip properties are set to obtain both IP and DNS automatically. Then
r-click the LAN connection icon and click "repair."

I have tried the repair options and no luck still gives the same result. I
also tried switching the pci slots, as well as a new nic completely and
still its screwed.

Oh well out come the set of ghost disks.

Have you tried replacing the cable between computer and the wall?
Have you tried another network socket on the LAN?
Try setting a fixed IP into it and then pinging other devices on the LAN.

I've seen both causing problems in the past with getting IP addresses.
