internet explorer canor find server or dns server error

hello
first time user.....thanks in advance
have a client...sbs2000 installed...was active directory until i changed it to workgroup...had 6 users connecting to internet via a single external modem connection off the server...now cannot get it working from users or server....at the server....connects to isp...can ping to ip but not a name...ie www.microspft.com....cannot figure it out...placed tech service call without success....was advised (not by microsoft) to blow away server and reinstall....hesitant to do so...any idreas?

before you FORMAT C:

grab the 30 day eval of VMWare and run up SBS in a virtual machine.
visit http://www.microsoft.com/sbserver/ and find out about the product.
and maybe even this one http://www.micropol.com.au/html/sbsgen.htm.

Why did you change it to a workgroup? SBS needs AD to work properly.
Reinstall and go with the wizards. Make sure you name the AD-domain
something like company.local (unless you have Macs).

are you talking 56 modem or dsl modem? That needs to be considered since
you are going to be overhauling your server anyway.
