It seems that Data Transformation Services is not installed on SBS2000.
Where do I find it to install? I've been all over and I can't find any info
about this.

Troy,

If you are refering to the DTS that is part of SQL Server 2000.. Do you have
SQL Server installed on the server? SQL does not install by default in SBS..
If you need to install it simply go to Start/Settings/Control Panel
Add/Remove Programs and select Micrsoft Small Business Server 2000 and click
the Change/Remove button.. At the Component selection screen select to
install SQL Server 2000 (note be sure to expand it out and select the
subcomponents needed as well to get them installed)

FYI.. you may want to have the server plugged into a hub by itself while
installing until you can get SQL 2000 SP3a (or at least the slammer update)
installed to help gaurd against getting the slammer virus

http://www.microsoft.com/sql/downloads/securitytools.asp

SQL 2000 SP3a can be found
http://www.microsoft.com/sql/downloads/2000/sp3.asp

Once SQL/SQL sp are install you should be able to go to
Start/Programs/Microsoft SQL Server/Enterprise Manager then under Microsoft
SQL Servers/SQL Server Group/Servernam/Data Transformation Services

For more information you may want to look at the SQL Books Online
(Start/Programs/Microsoft SQL Server/Books Online if installed)

I am, indeed, referring to DTS for SQL Server 2000, but it is not on the
server. Other than "Server Components" and "Management Tools" (which are
installed), the only other options under the SQL install section are "Books
Online", "Analysis Services", and "English Query", so unless DTS is under
one of those, it is not in SBS.

I have looked on several other SBS servers to see if they were the same and
none of them have the DTSWIZ.EXE file present. It simply looks like DTS
does not come on SBS2000, from what I can tell.

Any other suggestions?

Thanks,
Troy D. Young

It does indeed. Open you SQL Server Enterprise Manager and then your server
you will find it listed there.

FYI--
I copied the DTSWIZ.EXE from a full W2K/SQL2K server to the SBS server and
it worked. Weird...the DTSWIZ.DLL is even already there, but just not the
executable.

Pardon my terminology...The DTS Wizard is what is missing. DTS is there,
but the import/export wizard is not.

Troy,

So if you go to
Start/Programs/Microsoft SQL Server/Enterprise Manager then under Microsoft
SQL Servers/SQL Server Group/Servername and right click on Data
Transformation Services and select All Task you don't see Import Data and
Export Data? Or you click one of them and nothing happens?

Troy

Crazy...if you do it that way, it works, but you do not have a separate icon
for the DTS Wizard nor does the DTSWIZ.EXE file exist like it does on a full
install of SQL. I guess it's making the call direct from Enterprise
Manager.

Thanks,
