I am about to upgrade to SBS 2003 from SBS 2000. I gather that 2003 comes
with .net framework version 1.1. We currently use a .Net application that is
only tested to work on .net framework ver 1.0

When I upgrade will the current 1.0 framework be upgraded to version 1.1, or
will it install a new version of 1.1 and leave the exisitng framework alone?
I understand that both versions of the framework can be installed on the same
machine. If it does upgrade the current version will I be ok installing 1.0
again on SBS 2003?

Hi Jamie, you should really be asking the developer of the .net application.
No-one could answer that question 100% except the developers. There are big
changes in 2003 down the .net route especially due to sharepoint services.
Which ports is it using etc.

On that point I would ask is your server uptodate with all patches. If you
used window update then this would not install .net as a critical it would
need to be done manually, if you were using a patch program i.e Hfnetchk it
would install it automatically as the program needs 1.1

Sorry bill, you misread my question. I wasnt asking if my .net ver 1.0
application would work on .net version 1.1 - the problem is I know it wont so
I need to have version 1.0 running until the app is ammened to run on version
1.1.

What I was asking is firstly whether the upgrade from SBS 2000 to 2003
replaces the .net framework ver 1.0 with version 1.1 by default? If so, can
I either remove version 1.1 and revert back to ver 1.0, or can I install and
run both versions at the same time.
