A couple of weeks ago a user's machine bluescreened and we
tried to fix driver that was at issue but finally ended up
doing a repair install. The user was able to log in to
the domain and use the files from the server but when she
tried to use exchange it said "address book not available"
or can't find Exchange server. We reintalled outlook,
deleted the outlook profile, and rejoined the domain.
still unable to get on the exchange server from this
machine. We tried to login with other users and get the
same message.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks
Bob

I assume this is an XP/2k system because you rejoined the domain.

When you created the profile under the mail icon in control panel, and you
put in the server name and maybe the first name of the client, try clicking
on the check name button. Does it fill in the rest of the name and
underline it?

Also, is there an offline address book? KB292997 mentions upgrading from
outlook98 to 2002 and there being a problem.

But I think KB303926 is for you.

Hope this helps.

Forgot something. . .
If it doesn't underline it, then it is not connecting to the server.
(I know I know but htought I better mention it.)

Thanks Craig for your help.
I looked at kb303926 but I don't get that far outlook
doesn't open and I get the messages that it can't open see
system administrator.
When I click the check name in the mail icon of control
panel it does underline but still not luck.

Also It appears that she can't see the exhange server but
she is able to see and get to the domain and server
files.??
Any other thoughts thanks again

Bob,

Check the ipconfig/all on the client. Does everything point to the
server-IP?
Is it an XP or W2K?

All settings look right on the ipconfig. I CAN get to the
server for files... the excahnge and files are all on the
same server. I can get to the emails from the web access
as well.

Thanks

Bob,

Would you mind answering all the questions?
Being able to get to the server for files doesn't automatically mean you
have access to Exchange.
