I have a bad email in my inbox, I cannot start up outlook
to delete it, when I go to the exchange server to my inbox
folder there is one email in there that I cannot delete.
How can I fix this problem? I am logged into the exchange
server as the user who has a bad email, so there is full
control of the folder, but I cannot do anything to this
one email. When I press the delete button nothing happens
I cant move it out of the folder I cant do anything.. Can
someone help me out? I am no Exchange expert, I set it up
on my SBS server so we can use email through our domain
name, other than that I dont know how to manage the emails
other than that. Can someone provide some info? Thanks!

First, try Shift-Delete on the message when you're in Outlook.

If that doesn't work, the following may help...

Using EXMERGE To Delete Message From Your Exchange Server

I cant open outlook. It crashes as soon as my inbox
appears. I will check out that EXMERGE though. Thanks for
the tip. Anyone have more info? Thanks!

try accessing your email via OWA -- pull up your web browser and point it
to:
http://youservername/Exchange

and see if you can delete it that way.

You could also try to open OL without the preview pane...

OL2000: Additional Command-Line Switches
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=197180

Also, have you tried deleting, then recreating the user's mail profile on
the workstation?

I havent done IT in forever. I have forgotten how to do
this.. I remember looking for .pst files, but my email is
setup for IMAP. I thought .pst files were from pop3
accounts. How do I delete the user profile for the IMAP
account? Is this done from the server or the client
machine?

Before we go any farther here, have you tried Kevin's approach (use OWA to
delete the message)? or have you tried any of the other techniques you were
given to delete the offending message?

And what version of Outlook are you using?

OWA worked on deleting the message, but my outlook still
crashes out on startup.. The outllok client is still
pulling up all of the old messages in the inbox, so I am
thinking that the bad message is still in my profile. How
can I fix this when I am using IMAP? My Outlook Client is
Outlook 2000. Thanks for the help!

Are you using persoanl folders? If so can you remove that from the
profile to see if Outlook will stay open.
