Hi,

apparently you can automate the connection process for any
Microsoft client by using a simple batch file and the
rasdial command. The rasdial command starts a network
connection by using a specified entry.

Syntax
rasdial connectionname [username [password | *]]
[/domain:domain] [/phone:phonenumber]
[/callback:callbacknumber] [/phonebook:phonebookpath]
[/prefixsuffix]

The rasdial command disconnects a network connection by
using the following syntax:

rasdial [connectionname] /disconnect

I have tried the above and i cannot get it to work.

Can someone give me an example please? I seem to be
getting stuck on the the isp's domain name or the domain
name. I do not know what it is asking for here. It fails
without a domain name.

I have tried the following:

rasdial name [username [password]] /PHONE:

It dials and then fails

Please help someone.

What if you try do use the 'normal' dialupconnection (which should be in
your phonebook as well)? If you can get that to work, than you only have to
refer to that connection in your batchfile.

Yes, marina my normal dial up connection works.

Can you give me an example please?

I tried using the following from a command prompt:

rasdial myconnection [bill [123456]]

Bill and 123456 is a phoney username and password here.
i actually type in the correct username and password when
i try to dial but it fails saying that my username and
password is incorrect.

Is it because i test from a command prompt rather than
using a batch file?

I meant the dialupconnection to Trend. Did you make an entry for that?
Than you can just use rasdial trend (assuming you called that connection
trend). So first make this dialupconnection in Network Connections and fill
in the loginname and password and check the 'save password'. Once you've
been able to dialin successfully, you should be able to use it from the
commandline.
The phonebook normally is in C:\WINNT\SYSTEM32\RAS
If you have used spaces in the naming of this dialupconnection you'll have
to put it between quotationmarks, so rasdial "trend update".
