All settings were as specified by TechNet on both the Virtual Server
and Connector. The relay was testing as open until I removed the
connector. Has anyone run in to this? If so, what could be the
problem? I used the ICW to set up the server's connection.

Was it really relaying, or was it just acting like a relay? A properly
configured SBS machine will pretend to be an open relay, but the messages
never go anywhere.

Hi Bob,

Thank you for using Microsoft Technical Support Direct Access Newsgroups.

On a default installation after running the ICW, Exchange will not be open
to common forms of relay. This is quite possibly a false positive test
result. Please see the following article which describes why the server may
incorrectly appear to be open to relay using certain types of tests.

Once again, thank you for using the newsgroups.
