I have a SBS 2K server with the pop3 connector that
appears to connect to the ISP, download the mail and
attempt to connect to smtp and deliver the mail. Only
problem is the inbox never recieves the mail and the
sender ends up getting an NDR from my server stating that
there was a failed action with a status code of 5.2.2. I
get and error in the event viewer #4032 with an NDR code
of 1 which microsoft says is successful. Whats up with
that and how do I get my mail to work?

Thank you for posting your question to the Newsgroup.

This can occur if the server is not allowed to relay to itself. Verify
that the server's IP address is included as an allowed relay.

This can be configured under:
Default SMTP Virtual Server | Properties | Access Tab | Relay | "Only the
List
Below" | Granted 192.168.16.2 (or server's actual IP address)

Also ensure that the check box for "Allow all computers which successfully
authenticate to relay, regardless of the list above" is checked.

Also check the Authentication settings on the SMTP Virtual server under:
Default SMTP Virtual Server | Properties | Access Tab | Authentication
By default you should have anonymous, Basic and Integrated Windows
Authentication checked

Let me know the results

Not sure if it causes this error or not, but the recipient must also have
the TO email address in their user setup and I believe the domain has to
also exist in Recipient Policies. Since the POP3 connector in Exchange
actually delivers the mail locally, and not just "drop it in the mailbox",
the recipient's TO address must exist and match what is in the inbound
message. However, I think perhaps you'd get an "unknown user" bounce if
this were the case.

I just wanted to make sure the obvious wasn't overlooked.

Thanks,

Thanks for the advice Frank but the servers IP is listed
under the granted list and the authentication settings
were as you stated. Any other ideas?
