Hi,
have a problem with disapearing emails when the pop3
connector connects to the isp to retrieve emails. collects
emails from multiple pop acconuts ok, but doesn't seem to
pass them onto the relevant exchange accounts. got error
logging up to maximum, no errors in event log. seems like
emails vanish into thin air!!. not good!!.
Anyone have or had this problem and managed to retreive
the phantom emails ?

Any help apreciated.

Hi Adam,

Did you restart the pop3 connector service after turning up the logging?

Hi Adam,

Do the users have a valid email address that corresponds with the pop3
connector settings? The eventlog should tell you what is happening.

Hi Marina,

yes, all 5 users have a vaild email address on the domain,
the same as the pop3 connector collects from. i have
checked smtp connection on the server as i've seen some of
the mirosoft technet articles about permissions etc. etc.
i'm not getting any errors in event log.
emails are received and passed to exchange mailboxes
according to the logs.
nothing appears in the user mailboxes though.
all internal emails come and go ok.

cheers

Hi Adam,

So according to the eventlog the message is retrieved by the POP3 connector
from the ISP and transferred to the mailboxes, right?
Are the Outlook profiles on the clients pointing to the Exchange server
mailboxes?

Yep.
User outlook profiles point to the exchange server. they
can send internal emails to each other no problem, view
and modify public folders etc.etc.

Adam,

Has IIS and/or SMTP been uninstalled/re-installed? Can you try running
imbreg.exe from the \program files\microsoft windows small business
server\networking\pop3 directory to re-register the event sink needed..

I am having the EXACT same problem, and have not found a resolution. Using
POP3 connector in SBS03, the log shows that the mail was delivered to the
mailbox, but there is no mail! Where is it going and how do I correct this?
Thanx!!

Jim,

Have you already re-run the imbreg.exe mentioned in the previous post? If
so, then also check to make sure that the user has an email address with a
domain (@contoso.com for example) that exist in Exchange's Default Recipient
policy.
