Client responds to the 'netmodem use' command with the SBS2k Modem pool but
the modem does not show up when I attempt to install the modem on the XP Pro
client. Rebooting does not help.

Any ideas?

Have you followed the procedures in:

Configuring a Windows XP Professional Client in an SBS 4.5 Network
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;315773&sd=tech
under - "Configuring Modem Sharing Client"

Merv - that procedure had no affect at all. I had seen it earlier but
discarded since it was written for SBS 4.5 & Win2k clients - not SBS 2k & XP
Pro clients. What gave you the idea this would resolve the problem?

Surely this is not virgin territory...

did you do this part
Installing Modem Sharing Client
To install Modem Sharing Client: 1. Double-click Network Connections in
Control Panel.
2. Right-click Local Area Connection and click Properties.
3. Click Install, click Service, and then click Add.
4. Click Have Disk, and then navigate to the folder where you
extracted the Modem Sharing Service patch files.
5. Click Netsrdr.inf, click Open, and then click OK.
6. Click Shared Modem Service Client and click OK.
7. After the files are copied, click Close.
8. Restart the client.

Hi,
I actually have the same problem for a week now with Win2k
client station and XP pro client station. The Modem
Sharing Client are already installed on both clients and
Modem pools are configured on the SBS 2000 server
(Configuration tab in Modem Sharing Service of Control
Panel). I do not know anymore where to go from there.

Any help?

Regards,
Masil
