Trying to setup a 'one-armed' VPN via Microsoft Routing and Remote
Access on Small Business Server 2000. After configuring RRAS, my
server looses internet connectivity. Can't ping ANYTHING except
itself. Needless to say, all Outlook clients obviously freeze and the
LAN can't see the server anymore.

There is one error message in the Logs about RRAS not being able to
contact DHCP, but I assume this is related to the drop in network
connectivity.

Help,

--Matt

Hi Matt,

Sorry, I'm not familiar with the one armed method ;-). But if you have a
look at some other posts from today you'll find links to the relevant
article to get you up and running.

Unfortunately, it's not hard to misconfigure the VPN setup.

Are you dialing out of the SBS?

Two issues that apply to what you are doing is Q282922 (including all the
edits of the DNS and WINS) and when you make a VPN connection, the default
option on the Networking properties below TCP/IP | Advanced is to set the
default gateway to the new connection....killing default gateway to other
previous setting.

Matthew,

When you configured RRAS to VPN.. I'm assuming you mean be a VPN server..
and by one armed you mean it has one nic.. When you configured RRAS did you
select the option to configure it as a VPN server in the RRAS Configuration
Wizard.. If so, then it configures packet filtering to only allow VPN
traffic for that machine.. Go to Start/Programs/Administrative
Tools/Routing and Remote Access expand out your Servername/IP Routing and
go to General.. In the right pane right click on your network card and
select Properties Check in the Input and Output filters for the packet
filters..
