We re installed our SBS2000 box three times before going live and used
mydomain.local as the domain name.

Followed all instructions as per this newsgroup and everything is running
smoothly exceptly lately one XP workstation cant access mydomain.local and
one win2000 workstation cant view any site in IE

Both return the same IE error # 403 and then refer to ISA has forbidden
access to this site ( 12202 )

We have a couple of websites blocked ( kazaa etc ... ) using the ISA server
and these blocks work on all workstations.

Did you mispell here? or you are in fact trying to reach your intranet site
(mydomain.local)? If, so... I don't think its possible to receive an ISA
error code. Can you recheck that?

Also... you didn't mention it: Do you have the firewall client installed in
all workstations?

What happens if you unrestrict internet access (just to try)?

Pat,

Sorry for keep asking... but, is this ocurring even if you grant unlimited
access to the user (without the blocking of Kazaa... ect.)?

Have you checked that the Win 2K W/S is IE Configured to connect to the
Proxy Server ???

Is the ISA Client running on the W/S and configured and Confirmed connected
to the ISA Server ?

Yes,

If I disable the blocked website rule, all workstaions can view the
forbidden websites.

I have narrowed it down to the Users on each workstation. If I log in as a
different user other than the users who are at the two workstations I am
talking about, I get in to mydomain.com.

I have checked the user groups in SBS2000, all users are members of the same
groups ( Internet users etc ... )

The only users who belongs to different user groups form the rest is the SBS
default Administrator who is never logged in anyway.

I have not created any user specific rules in ISA - so this is a mystery to
me.

I only have 5 custom ISA rules and they are not user specific and all rules
work as they should.

This problem is really wierd - I have spent 2 hours running around the
office and have determined the following.

User A works at workstation A and can not access mydomain.com

User B works at Workstation B and can not access any website on IE

Both can ping out to the internet.

Both errors the same : IE error # 403 and then refer to ISA has
forbidden access to this site ( 12202 )

User A can access all websites including mydomain.com on all other 5
workstations in the office.

User B can access nothing on workstation B but can access everything on the
other 4 workstations.

ISA firewall installed and operating on all workstations - no other AVS on
any workstations.

What do you think !

Check the ipconfig/all on the clients. Does everything point to your

Are all firewall clients set to the right servername and is the
'autoconfigure' unchecked?
Are all IE-settings pointing to your servername or -IP and port 8080?

Marina,

You nailed it on the head.

Workstation A had in the 'Advanced' section of the proxy settings to bypass
proxy server for "*.mydomain.com"

Workstation B had no entry in the proxy server so we pointed it to the
server at port 8080

All working well now.

Thanks a lot

Pat
