How can I setup exchange to block all web based mail coming in to my default
users group? I want to be able to send out group messages on the lan, but
not get the spam from outside.

You don't want a set of users to receive email from outside your LAN?

If so, you can delete the SMTP address from within each user's exchange
profile (Active Directory > Domain > Users {view advanced features} > user >
Email Addresses tab).

Or, if this is temporary, you can set the profile to only accept mail from a
particular group or person (AD > Domain > Users {view advanced features} >
user > Exchange General > Delivery Restrictions > Message Restrictions
section - accept messages from).

All of the individual users need to receive mail. Here's what
happened.......A website was put up some time ago with a link to em-mail the
company for more information. The mail link was the distribution group of
domain users so that all users would get a copy of the e-mail. Well, after
some spam bot scooped this address off of the site they get hammered from
all directions. The site has since been changed to include a info mail link
that acts as a catch all.
