Hi All

I have a customer that wants to be able to connect from a client on one
SBS2000 network to the server via VPN on another SBS2000 network. I have
configured and set up the server to accept the vpn connection and can
connect via my SBS2000 network and connect to all resources. The client can
connect but can not connect to the resources etc. I am wondering if this is
likely to be a sub net issue. The client is using the same internal range
at both locations 192.168.16.x, the VPN uses 192.168.0.x and I use 10.0.0.x
internally. We are using the same login for testing. Same packet filters
are installed etc.

Is the fact they are using 192.168.16.x at both locations the problem? If
not is there something else I should check on their network? I'm pretty
sure it is set up the same as mine.

yeah, they need to be on different networks, and a h/w vpn if multiple users
connect would be better.

Any tips or suggestions on the procedure to change the internal ip address
of the SBS server?

Oh now, it's not that bad . . . . :^)

1) Change the IP in your LAN connection TCP/IP settings
2) Disable your existing DHCP scope and create a new scope for your new
subnet (being sure to setup any reservations that were present in the
original scope)
3) Open DNS and change the IP that DNS listens on to the new IP.
4) If RRAS is configured to use a static pool, update that pool as
necessary.
5) Edit the registry edits you completed from KB 292822, using the new IP
6) Change IPs on any LAN devices with static IPs.
7) Update TCP/IP printer mappings as necessary
8) Update any web / server publishing rules in ISA to the new interal IPs
of the published servers.
9) If IE / firewall client is configured to use the IP address of the
server, update these settings as needed.

Hi again.

Did the change to the new IP address and everything is working (including
vpn) except internet performance is pretty bad (eg ping packets are dropped
and performance is very slow).

Is there something I may have missed that could cause this. Any suggestions
would be appreciated.

Regards
ilr
