So I MANUALLY added the WinXP Pro client to the domain of the SBS2000 LAN.
(Previous post 10/11/2004 12:41 PM)

I logged on workstation as the Domain Administrator and installed Outlook
and Firewall from server.

How do I get Trend C/S/M Suite to install the Client portion onto the
workstation? Seems that on previous workstations that when they logged onto
the LAN that it automatically installed...

Overview: Existing user is getting new workstation. Want to get it
connected to LAN, get all software installed and then exchange it with his
current Win2000 box that he is currently using. This pc (Dell) was bought
from a company that had a bunch of proprietary software installed and
configured to connect with their main office. I did a reinstallation from
the Dell WinXP CD to start with a clean box.

easiest way is to log on as a normal user.

another way (which doesn't exhaust the list) is to go to
http://server/officescan and click the 'install' link.

Log into the computer as domain admin & run the setup/login script manually
once. Updates will go out automatically every time the user logs in
presuming you're using the login script for Trend ....doesn't require any
local admin rights.

Sorry... But where do I find the setup/login script to run it manually?

Oh - if you didn't set up your login script to include the pccsrv thing (you
can set it up in officescan), just log in once w/local admin rights & run
the setup from the Officescan webpage - or push out the install from the
Officescan server.

Tim,

I have read the other responses and do not disagree with any of them.

However, Are you aware that you can include any installable program as part
of the sbs client setup diskette.

To do so, go to the MS sbsconsole and in the console left hand panel select
computer folder. Then select define client applications and locate the
install for the program you desire installed(I have done this for Adobe
Acrobat Reader and WINZIP). Keep in mind that you'll need to use the
\\<servername>sharename\setup.exe format for the selection.

When you add a new computer to the AD/SBS domain, produce the diskette.

Next take the diskette to the desktop and bring up windows to a desktop.

Insert the diskette and select the setup program on the diskette to add the
computer to the domain and setup all the networking.

After adding to the SBS domain, reboot and login as a domain user, you will
be prompted to install the applications by the SBS login script.

Select OK and voila.....the installs are done for you.

I have included, winzip, acroreader, symantec client, google toolbar,
firewall client, shared fax client, IBM client access express, and more....

This has smoothed and made the computer addition process fairly
"bullet-proof".

On a desktop that you DO NOT WANT the "full" suite of installs, You can
select ONLY those that you want when you create the diskette.
