Hi All,

First off, thank you all so much for the advice and insight you've all
given me. Verry helpful! I hope I can return the advice as I get
more knowledgeable with SBS2K.

My current question is in regards to the DSL connection I have for my
proposed SBS2K setup. I currently have an aDSL connection thru
Verizon at $59.00 a month. If I upgrade to a static IP address (for
use with SBS2K/Exchange)...Verizon will charge me $89.00 a month (an
additional $30.00 a month). That's pretty expensive for my small
business, so I am looking at alternatives.

I've read a little bit about TZO. It seems cheaper...but is it stable
and better than getting my own static ip address? Or are there
serious shortcomings? What TZO package do you all recommend??? FYI,
this will be for a lan of 11 pc's running Win XP on SBS2K. I already
have a website for my company hosted by hostdepot.com...so will that
interfere with my company email address if I switch to TZO or a static
ip?

Kindly help!!!

IMHO... TZO and DynDNS are very reliable. Is Verizon going to have a backup
MX record (I don't remember what this is called)? This is very important...
in case your server goes offline they will accept your mail until you get it
online again.

I don't have experience with Verizon... but one of the main factors to
switch to an ISP with fixed IP is that usually this accounts are
business-class... this gives you more rights and options (they cannot block
port25, support is "better"... ect.).

Another option you might want to consider is using POP3 to retreive your
mail... this could work if you have only a few accounts. This will however
not help you for VPN... but you can get a free account for that.

You would be crazy to host mail on a dynamic address, I
would pop out for it and use TZO for remote access only.
Cheap can cost you money! Mark my words.

Phooey!!! Now I'm sooo confused!!! Can I...or can't I host a mail
server over a Verizon aDSL connection with TZO??? Or should I just
get a static ip?

And why would I be crazy to do so otherwise???
