Hi,

Are your client machines pointing to SBS for DNS? Try and ping companyweb
from client machine. If you cannot then create the CNAME record by the name
companyweb and enter FQDN.

Its ok to ask these questions...we all started at the beginning at some =
point

On your SBS server go to a command prompt and type ipconfig /all > =
c:\ipconfig.txt

Then copy that file somewhere where you can open on the workstation you =
using to post here

Open the file and copy the entire contents and post here

This will give us a good start to resolving this

Sometimes its not a matter of not looking hard enough, sometimes its a =
question of knowing what question or how to ask to get the answers

Typically (and I don't know which router you are using) the ip on the =

Besides the good responses here the primary SBS 2003 newsgroup is:

microsoft.public.windows.server.sbs

Post there for additional responses.

I find I am at a welcome to windows small business server page with four
links one of which is

MY Companies internal web site ( ive seen this before )

when I click on this the web browser tries to load HTTP://companyweb/ which
takes me to the same "The page you are looking for is currently unavailable.
The Web site might be experiencing technical difficulties, or you may need to
adjust your browser settings." Hmmm

Do I have to take this to another board or will you help me to finish this
problem Im sorry that I started asking in the wrong place.

The IP addresses were set by me when I originally set the system up I just
used 192.168.0.1 for the server because in my mind it was number one computer
and the router I set as 192.168.0.100 because I could remember that when I
was setting the clients up to give them Internet access. Just for information
that may help should I post the ip config result for one of my clients for
you to see

Cris
I think I saw the light this morning I got to thinking about your comments
about pointing the computer at the correct DNS server as I looked at the DNS
settings in the client computer I saw that the primary & secondary DNS
settings were set for my ISP servers. Any way I changed the primary DNS
server to 192.168.0.1 and hey presto I get to the internal web page and I
seem to be able to get to the internet as well ( a sucessful guess ) I hope
that I havent naggered any thing else only time will tell.

Let me know if you think I have done something that will cause me other
problems.
If not I cant thank you enough for your most valuable help.

all members of an Active Directory (including the DC's themselves) should
look _only_ to AD Integrated DNS servers for name resolution. The AD
integrated servers can then use either 'root hints' or 'forwarders' to
satisfy name resolution outside the AD.
