User Name comment

Does anyone know where the comment that appears next to a
users PC in windows explorer such as user name is found on
a windows 2000 operating system.

computer description in :(

Sorry Phil, I was looking on the Current Machines which are
Win2k3 and XP.

You'll find it under :

My Computer
..Manage
....Computer Management (Local)

(Win2K Machines)
........Network Identification

(Win2K3 Machines)
.......Computer Name
...........Computer Description

If you're talking SBS4.5 and NT Workstations, then I'm sorry
but I don't recall where the settings were, and I don't have a 4/4.5 Net
handy to check, but I'm sure one of the Gurus will know and Post it.

Note: If the Input Field is greyed out and non-functioning you may have
to create the Reg String Val (srvcomment) under:
HKey_L_M\system\ControlSet00(x)\Services\lanmanserver\parameters.
and Reboot. ( where ControlSet00(x) is your Current Control set. )

Just did a bit of Homework, and your best bet would be to use Command-line,
which you could run from a Batch File if so desired.

NET CONFIG SERVER /SRVCOMMENT:"<SomeComment>"

will do it for you on NT, 2K, XP and 2K3 (Don't know about 9x/Me)
