I'm still hoping to get a more helpful answer on this. However, since
you're looking to upgrade to the 2003-level products anyway, you do have the
option of buying the SBS version upgrade SKU, then the currently available
Transition Pack. The transition pack is what you need to separate the
products and remove the other SBS restrictions (don't forget you need
transition CALs too).
Other posters in this group have reported trouble locating the Transition
Pack, but it's a current product so I'm sure you'll find a source. At
worst, you may have to contact one of the big vendors and have them order it
for you.
If you decide to go that route, you can find the SKUs, etc. at
