When I try to connect to the site I receive the following message from ISA: HTTP 502 Proxy Error - The specified Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) port is not allowed. ISA Server is not configured to allow SSL requests from this port. Most Web browsers use port 443 for SSL requests. (12204) I googled the message and located the following article: http://www.isaserver.org/articles/2004tunnelportrange.html The problem is thta this article was written for ISA 2004.     - Is it SBS 2000 or not? Can't Tell. What is the best way to tell if a system is running SBS2k or not? I was recently at a customer site and noticed that the Ctrl-alt-del screen and the start button said server 2000. So I was sure it was running plain 'ol server 2000. But I noticed the sbs2k console was installed, I ran it and it came up fine. I looked in the add remove programs and it had small business server listed.     - Get off the Desktop and Go Web-Based I can't tell you how many times I've mulled over whether to keep email management in-house or to go web-based. We ultimately decided to go web-based because it was easier to manage, easy to monitor (as a manager), easy to setup and it ultimately protect our desktops from unwanted viruses. We use a secure access system called IFM eMail Manager (ifmodules.com). We love it and they do daily back-ups. Exchange isn't the only choice for business. When I want to opet Licensing at Control Panel some message jump to me and there is - New licenses can be add by Small Business Console and somethink like that. How do I get users to be able to access their roaming "My Documents" folder, etc. on the second server, again once I give them access (within the next hour)?     - Synching to an atomic clock... I have a windows 2000 SBS and want to synch to a time service. I did the following things... 1) Stopped the time service "net stop w32time" 2) Set the time server.. "net time /setsntp:windows.time.com" 3) entered "w32tm - once" 3) Started the time service again... Now, will it automatically synch once per day by default or do I need to specify further parameters to do this? I tried the "w32tm -period 0" command but it just sits there until I use <CTRL><C> to get out.. Am I missing something? Thanks!     - SBS2000 X225 Server Last week updates were downloaded and installed from Windowsupdate for the server. The server was not restarted. Yesterday morning the server had a message saying it was shutting down. We do not know how long it was there but when nothing happened after 45minutes it was hard shutdown. A restart showed no errors in any of the logs and all services started okay. Since then the server has Frozen or Hard Locked with no access from the network, console, etc., 3 times. The last time it occurred it was being monitored (task manager running, scanning drives, installing monitoring software). Memory usage running at around 600Mb, processor at around 20%. Screen just froze in place (ie. what was on the screen stayed there). No mouse, keyboard (no numlocks or caplocks). Server is still running, fans still running, no harddrive activity at all. On each occasion there are no errors in any logs, no actual events in the logs around the time of the freeze, nothing. And the server starts perfectly each time Server specs are: X225 server, Xeon 2.4Ghz, 512Mb, 2 x 36Gb SCSI hot swap drives with a 5i RAID card and drives are mirrorred. External modem, UPS. There are 3 partitions (RAID not windows) on the drive with paging split onto 2 different partitions. Thoughts are leaning towards possible hardware problems (ram, SCSI controller, SCSI cage) but seeing as a restart was not undertaken after the update installation last week could this be a possibility? Are now going through ensuring BIOS, Firmware, etc is all up to date but just in case someone else has been down this path and thoughts would be greatly appreciated.     - Joined a Vista Laptop to SBS2000 - OUCH! Please Help! I setup RADIUS on the SBS2K server and changed the WiFi encryption from WEP to WAP using RADIUS. A Windows XP laptop seemed to work fine with it. I then plugged a network cable into a stable Vista laptop, joined the domain, then configured the WiFi on the laptop to match the router's settings. After doing that, I unplugged the Ethernet cable, logged out, and logged back in on the Vista laptop. During that process, I added a domain group (which includes the laptop's user) as a member of the local administrators group on the laptop - just as I do on the WinXP machines. I'm now getting all sorts of wild and crazy error messages on the Vista laptop, most apparently have something to do with ownership/security/permissions on files and folders. I tried to manually add the domain user to the file and folder permissions (full control). In vain. I tried to run a System Restore on the laptop to the day prior to all this. It ran, then upon rebooting, it said that the System Restore failed to complete successfully. I then dis-joined the laptop from the domain (put the laptop back to using a workgroup). I also reverted the security settings on the router and the laptop's WiFi connection. Then I tried to run the System Restore again. The same error again. Has anyone had any similar issues with Windows Vista? Any suggestions (besides throwing the laptop out a window on the 14th floor)? Thanks.     - MX Record questions We are not getting email from outside the company. I am guessing it's the MX record. Called the company who has the domain name and the mx record, they say it looks fine. I don't think it's a problem with Exchange. We have internal email and can send to the outside world. Any suggestions? THANKS!!!!     - RADIUS Setup Does SBS 2K include some provision for providing RADIUS authentication? If so, how do I set it up? If not, can I use W2K3 Server for RADIUS and get the authentication from the AD in SBS 2K? I'm trying to upgrade the security on our 802.11 b/g/n WiFi router from WEP to WPA Enterprise or WPA2 Enterprise and the router is asking for a RADIUS server, shared secret, etc. Pretty much, how do I execute this using SBS 2K?     - How can I disable ISA server in SBS 2000, aside from uninstalling Once, I actually paid for support from Microsoft and part of the process was disabling ISA server. I don't remember how it was done. A year later it sems ISA is back on and I'm having some problems for numerous reasons, as you could imagine. I tried to uninstall ISA and windows tells me that an application (ISA related, I'm sure) must be stopped first. So, that route doesn't work.     - Issue loging onto Domain through VPN. Hi, I'm running a sbs 2000 Server and the vpn client is running windows XP professional SP2. The ISA server has been setup to allow PPTP passthrough and the remote user has been granted access to dial-in. On the client computer I added the VPN connection to network connections and can establish a connection by right clicking on the connection and selecting "Connect". After doing so I am able to view files, connect to the server using remote desktop and view are local intranet. However, when trying to login by selecting "Log on using dial-up connection" from the windows logon screen the connection is established, however user is unable to login. The message tells me to check username, domain and password.     - Pop3 Connector Hi, We did a delete all of our files in mailroot\vsi 1\Badmail directory yesterday to free up disk space (delay maintainance), now we are not receiving any emails via our Global ISP Host. Our ISP said we are pulling our mail, but nothing is showing up at the desktop Outlook client. Things were working prior to our delete. Internal email is OK. We running SBS 2000. Have done a restart of the server, but no change. Any suggestions? How can we verify that we are pulling POP3 mail from the ISP first, then where do we look (logs) for tracking any errors. I want to restrict individual users to only one (1) login on one PC at any given time (no simultaneous logins by any given user).     - Vista SP1 file copy issue - HELP !! We have a group of Vista clients happily connected to our SBS 2000 server for 9 months - NO PROBLEMS. I have now upgraded 2 of the clients to SP1 and they are both exhibiting the same problem - I cannot copy files larger than 1MB to the shared folders on the server. This IS serious - and can anyone provide any insight to fixing this. I have no problems with the non SP1 Vista clients. I actually did get the copy to work after about 50 attempts .... and then it failed again. Our SBS 2000 server is fully updated including our clients. Anyone with any ideas ??     - Problem with Windows licence on Windows SBS 2003 R2 Due to a server failure I tried starting up the server in safe mode, that didn't work. Next I used the original Windows install CD to do a re-install of Windows SBS 2003 R2 (not a full install). However, when I enter the login details of the Administrator in the logon screen, the folowing message is displayed: "A problem is preventing Windows from accurately checking the status of the licence for this computer. To proceed, your copy of Windows must be activated with Microsoft. Do you want to activate now?". If I click 'yes' I am redirected tot the login screen. If I click 'no' I am redirected to the login screen. If I click 'cancel' the computer shuts down. The above means that there seems to be no way to bypass this activation check. The strange thing is that the clients are able to login to the server. The http://support.microsoft.com/kb/310794/en-us solution on the Microsoft support site doesn't work since the following files aren't present: HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Software\Microsoft\Cryptography\Providers HKEY_USERS\S-1-5-20\Software\Microsoft\Cryptography\Providers Hoping for a solution!     - windows sbs 2000 Logon - logoff loop hello. I have a HP ML 350 G2 running Windows sbs 2000. The main problem is that I cant get to the desktop anymore when I start the server. The server boots and gets to the screen where I type in my username and password to get to desktop. It accepts user and password, starting loading the desktop, gets as far as loading my background wall paper, and then the "saving user settings" dialog comes up and I am taken back to the initial user/password screen again automatically.     - Configuring SBS 2000 for NAT. I have a client who is presently using SBS 2000, and is having constant problems with network connections. Here's what is happening. First, from time to time he loses connections and has to restart all of his workstations, and even the server to get he connections back. (History) Now, it was setup by somebody else over 5 years ago. Recently, I rebulit him a new server and loaded back his operating system into it, to get him running. Except, his network is static IP's with internet through the same LAN adapter. What I like to do for him, to solve his problem, is to attach his second LAN adapter with a router, for the internet, either DHCP or static using NAT. Then, using a HUB attach all of his computers to the second LAN adater and configure it to log in each workstation statically. This way, he will not have these issues again! Is this a better choice, or is there something else as to why he is having all of these problems. What he has, is a DSL modem attached to a wired router, along with all his clients, and they are seeing the server and logging in and seeing the internet too. Please advise if NAT is a good suggestion, I believe he is logging into a Domain controller... not sure, but can find out. I appreciate any feedback on this topic!     - Upgrading Small Bus server... We are looking at upgrading our Small Bus server from 2000 to the most recent version which I think is still 2003 correct? The issue we are currently facing is that I am wondering if I should just ditch SBS 2000 completley and go with the purchase of stand alone products (i.e. separate Server (domain controller) , separate SQL Server, separate Exchange server) and leave SBS as it is or to upgrade our current SBS 2000 to SBS 2003. I am thinking it will most likley be the cheapest and easiest for us to upgrade from SBS 2000 to SBS 2003 (or later) - however, we really only want the newer versions of Exchange and SQL server - specifically Exchange at this point - and it might be nice to move right up to Exchange 2008 instead of stopping at 2003. However, that may also entail some hardware upgrades (or new server to purchase) if we do that... Does anyone have any idea on cost to upgrade from SBS 2000 to SBS 2003 to do something like this and maybe some technical details of SBS 2003 ie. # of concurrent users, max email database size (Exchange 2000 is 16gb - which we have already hit before)?     - Microsoft Mobile Information Server question... We have several sales people who have hand held devices that can synch with Exchange using ActiveSynch. However, we have Exchange 2000 (becasue we have SBS 2000) and ActiveSynch is not part of that. Could anyone suggest why my logon script is not being picked up by the profiles. The script is correct in the user profile and is referenced correctly to the batch file in the netlogon share with proper permissions.     - Roaming profile issue... I have a roaming profile issue that I would like some clarification on... I recently set up a new user and forgot to enter the path to the roaming profile in his AD profile before logging him into one of our XP machines he will be using for the first time. While I was logged on I proceeded to configure his desktop the way he needs and when I finished, I remembered that I had forgotten to set up the roaming part of his profile. So before logging him out, I added the path to his ropaming profile in his AD profile, saved it, and then logged him out of the XP machine. I then went over to a differnt XP machine and logged him in to test, and behold, the desktop changes I had made on the previous login were all there - so I knew the roaming profile was working. I did not have to configure any printers on his profile as the various network printers he needed were already installed on that PC and as such existed in his profile of the PC he was logged onto. Now this is where it gets tricky... Yesterday he had to log back into the PC I had inititially set him up on, and some of the printers are missing - yet they are all installed on that PC because the main user of that PC uses them all the time. My question is, if the drivers are all installed on the PC, then why wouldn't all of the printers show up in his profile based on his roaming profile settings? Are printers not a part of the roaming profile at all? - and even if they are not, why would all of the installed network printers not show up anyway - when they are all installed on that PC?     - Additional mailbox problem I've tried setting up an additional email domain within Exchange. I want to continue to receive emails sent to *...@abc.com but also want to receive emails sent to *...@xyz.com I've added xyz.com as a new E-Mail address policy within Recipient Policies. I've updated the recipient update service and I've checked with my ISP to make sure everything is set up correctly with them. They've confirmed that xyz.com is set up exactly the same as abc.com and that their logs show the few emails I've tested as being successfully delivered to our server. The problem I've got is that the emails sent to xyz.com are reaching our server but Exchange is not routing them to me. Whilst looking in 'POP3 Connector Manager Properties', under the troubleshooting tab, I noticed that the Exchange mailbox for undeliverable emails to be sent to was set to Administrator. I changed this to my own username and tried sending through another email to xyz.com The email arrived in my mailbox in Outlook - no problem. I changed the mailbox for undeliverable emails to another name in our organisation and tried again. This time the email arrived in that persons Outlook Inbox.
