Hi, All,

One of our user bought a new laptop (with XP home). He wants to use the new
laptop to replace his old laptop which is in our SBS2000 domain. He has XP
pro. installed at this old laptop by the previous IT guy. The use wants to
continue to use his XP pro.. So he wants me to uninstall the XP pro. and
install it at this new laptop and join the domain. I know all xp has to be
activated with end user license. I have never tried this before. I don't know
whether I can do this or not. If I can do this, how to do this without
causing activation information confiction? Please help. Thanks a lot in
advance.

You may want to talk with a Microsoft licensing agent on this. If I
remember correctly, it depends on the type of XP Pro license you have. If
the XP Pro on the original laptop is OEM, you cannot move it. It stays with
the original laptop and dies with the original laptop. If it is the full
retail version, you can uninstall it and reinstall on another piece of
equipment. This may still result in a call to their activation center.
Microsoft's activation center is easy to get a hold of and doesn't take long
for reactivation.

Thank you so much, TK. I almost lost hope before I get your response.
