We have SBS2000 running OfficeScan should I also have the client part
running on the server? the reason I ask is, I have had it running on it and
when OfficeScan cleans a e-mail in exchange the real time scan will find it
in the exchange folders and tell me it can't clean it but when I check the
scan logs for exchange it shows that the e-mail has been deleted. also does
anyone know how to reset/clear the client view in the console of officescan,
when you open it any clients in the past that have detect a virus show up
with a red dot how do you reset this I run a scan at the machine and all is
clear but when you look in the console it's still marked as infected.
Thanks
Tim

Is this the client/server/messaging suite? If so, yes, officescan is what
you run on the server as a client as well as hosting officescan for the
workstations.

However, here's a caveat (and applies to any file-level antivirus on any
exchange server)
You must exclude many directories from file level scanning, and must also
exclude the M drive. Otherwise, your server will be Very Unhappy....
http://support.microsoft.com/?id=328841 has details. Overview: exclude M:,
all exchange db/log/queue/badmail folders from any file level scan, realtime
or scheduled.

For Exchange, you should be using Scanmail.

Re Officescan: there's a 'reset virus count' and 'reset' for infected
computers in the console.

hi, i tend to also exclude the exchange server folders \MDBDATA from
scanning, this is the exchange info stores.
but when u installled the trend CSM suite , it should have installed the
Office Scan client on your SBS server, AND then you have to gotpo the
console and install the SCANMAIL on the same SBS server, ...

remember, to update all, and enable scheduled updates.
