Hi Everyone:

Believe it or not, a client has finally agreed to replace their SBS 4.5 with
SBS 2000.

Why SBS 2000 you ask? Because this is the free one that they got after
purchasing SBS 4.5 near the end of its marketing cycle.

And why now? Because they have finally been overwhelmed with SPAM. The
owner and his grown son seem to enjoy attracting the stuff, mainly by
visiting web sites that we all agree are not the kind Mom would like.

My question is whether to use Trend CMS or Trend Neat Suite.on this server?
Want to block spam, and am willing to add a third party anti spam program,
but if one of the Trend products will do it all that would be fewer
complications.

And does anyone know if the upgrade program applies to the original Trend
for SBS 4.5?

Thanks for your help.

If you are really going to upgrade because of SPAM it really makes even more
sense to move up to SBS2k3. Spam control on SBS2k is not nearly as good as
in 2k3 (built-in support for blacklists, directory lookups).

In any event... you need Trend CSM suite, but since NetSuite is CSM +
VirusWall you can also get that one if you feel you have the need for the
additional component. CSM has an anti-spam program.

I really doubt it. In fact, are you sure your current AV is up to date?
Trend totally discontinued releasing patterns for the old versions since
September. If you have a 3-digit pattern (i.e 9xx) you have 3 month old
definitions.

Does Trend C/S/M come with spam blocking? I always thoght you had to
purchase eManager to get spam blocking.

As far as upgrading Trend, when we upgraded from 4.5, Trend had
discontinued their SBS product. However, there was an upgrade to the
full C/S/M version with 50 users for customers who owned Trend's SBS
version. It was quite the bargin at $410. I think the part number we
purchased was B1762428. It's possible that is a vendor part number and
not a manufacturer's (Trend's) part number. Also, this was back in
January, 2003. This product might not be valid anymore. Couldn't hurt
to call Trend and ask.

Also, for what it's worth, we are running SBS 2000 with Trend C/S/M and
GFI Mail Essentials and everything works well together. I haven't had a
single problem. I can't really say Mail Essentials is better than any
other spam program because it is all I have used. However, there are no
problems with Trend C/S/M and GFI ME. GFI ME is cake to setup and
administer.

I think only the Trend C/S/M for SMB version comes with eManager (but it is
definitely part of the SMB suite, because I have it). I think there was a
program for C/S/M users to get the SMB version. Let me see if I can dig
something up.

Hi Javier, Rob:

Thanks for the reply. After reviewing (meaning viewing again ) the =

Frankly, from their "learn more" links, it seems they don't explain the =
difference. In fact, the CSM seems more comprehensive from their =

Thanks again:
