I have a three site organisation with approx 40 users in total. Each
site is linked by ADSL.
Facilities required are email, shared diaries, web proxy and file
access across sites.

Should I implement SBS2000 at one site and W2K servers as additional
domain controllers or should I implement W2K at each site with one
hosting exchange server. Additional servers would require ISA server
in both cases.

Is there anything to be gained going down the all W2K route other than
future expandability and greater expense? Are there any issues with
SBS2000 in a multi-site environment?

I appreciate any thoughts.

I run many customer sites as multi-site. I use a single SBS server at the
main location, add a TS Apps server next to it, and don't put servers in the
other offices. If you put fileserver/DCs at other offices, you have to deal
with backup, patching and maintenance in each location. If everything runs
from TS sessions in a single location, all the work is there, all the data
is there, all the configuration is there. I have remote sites I setup and
don't see for literally years. Exchange isn't really a problem with the TS
sitting next to it, and you will find that you can do remote work with
Exchange (perhaps with laptops?) without much difficulty. If you look at the
cost of putting a DC and backup at 3 sites, then compare it to a DC and a TS
server at one site, check the costs.....you see what I mean.
