I'm not 100% sure if this is the right newsgroup or not, but since so many
brilliant people check it, I thought this would be a good place to start!!
We have a user running Windows XP Pro - machine name 'Shipping'.
Today he was working in an excel file when another user tried to open the
same file. She received an error message stating that the document was
opened by 'Draft4' and she could not open it. We do not have any users on
the system named 'draft4' but used to. Obciously this sent us me on a wild
goose chase trying to see exactly who had this documetn open. Eventually we
found out who had the document open and it was this XP user - named
jnewitt - and this is how he logs onto the system!
I checked his machine, there are no references in the registry to 'draft4',
and he is not using a mapped drive with a different user's credentials to
access the data.
Could Excel have embedded something into the actual spreadsheet?
Where on earth should I check on his machine to see what is generating the
'draft4' username when he opens a document?
Incidentally, this used to be a WIN98 machine - upgraded to XP Pro using the
'upgrade' package (I wouldn't do this again!!)
Thanks,
Brad
