Hi,

Not sure if anyone can help but here goes nothing.

I'm looking at scalable options to remotely monitor desktop / server /
network status and performance at client sites from our main office. The
sites are predominantly SBS2003 domains with a mixture of Windows XP and 2000
clients supporting anywhere from 10 - 25 users. There are no dedicated WAN
links between the client sites and our main office.

The Microsoft Solutions for Small Business whitepaper seems to indicate
that Operations Manager could be used in this scenario to monitor the remote
networks, however I can't find any further information regarding this
scenario on the MOM website. If anybody has any experience of configuring
such a solution, or could recommend alternative methods of remotely
monitoring SBS networks I would be most appreciative.

Many thanks,

James

Thanks for your feedback Chris.

I have since taken a look at Managed Workplace and on first impressions it
does seem to cover much of the ground we're interested in. However I'd still
be interested in using MOM for it's integration with HP Insight Manager and
Dell OpenManage (although I thoroughly intend to evaluate Managed Workplace).

Consequently if anyone has any experience of configuring such a solution
with MOM, or could recommend other alternative methods of monitoring remote
networks I would be most appreciative.

Regards,

James

In a recent gathering of the SBS MVPs, I know of no one using MOM.

I think the issue you might have with MOM and SBS is trusts. =20

Many of the MVPs are using the Monitoring and Reporting tools to receive =
a morning email about the status of networks. You can certainly modify =
what you'd want to see on that report.

Perhaps others will post some ideas
