I think those MS instructions are a little whacked in the "Configuring =
Windows Time service to use an external time source" section...
For instance...
1) Item#6 on their list... On my Windows 2000 Small Business Server, =
there is not even an entry in the registry for =
"MaxAllowedClockErrInSecs" - so should I be adding it? and not only that =
- they indicate it is a DWORD value - and cleary you cannot type text =
into a DWORD value.
2) Item #7 on their list - "Period" is not a DWORD value as they =
indicate - it is a string - so typing 24 in there as they say makes no =
sense...
It makes it difficult to follow instructions that are wrong because you =
figure that MS instructions would be correct and you start to second =
guess yourself and what you see on your machine!!!!
I did not add "MaxAllowedCLockErrInSecs" - should I??
I aso read where "Period" should have by default "SpecialSkew" as it's =
string value.
Help!
Thanks, Brad

I have a windows 2000 SBS and want to synch to a time service.
I did the following things...
1) Stopped the time service
"net stop w32time"
2) Set the time server..
"net time /setsntp:windows.time.com"
3) entered "w32tm - once"
3) Started the time service again...
Now, will it automatically synch once per day by default or do I =
need to=20
specify further parameters to do this?
I tried the "w32tm -period 0" command but it just sits there until I =
use=20
<CTRL><C> to get out.. Am I missing something?
Thanks!
