Symantec Antivirus & ISA

Hi,

Does somebody know how to get LiveUpdate working on SBS2000. (I can't get
through ISA)

I've read this article too, but it doesn't work. It works when you start
liveupdate manually, but it doesn't retrieve updates automaticly. What am I
doing wrong?

We are running Symantec's Mail Security for Exchange. I
can not run live update via the user interface but I can
run it as a scheduled task.

For Mail Security, use this command line in your task:
"D:\Program Files\Symantec\SAVFMSE\SMSELive.exe" -s
(our product is installed on the d drive)

For the older Mail Filtering try this (they changed the
command option):
"D:\Program Files\Symantec\SAVFMSE\SMSELive.exe" /SILENT

Don't know if its the same or not but I read an article recently regarding
one of the AV vendors programs [could have been McAffee, but that's from
memory] which suggested that the program creates a scheduled task to carry
out the auto updates but does so to run without a user. This apparently
isn't what W2K will look for or like so it needs to be manually set to run
as a specific user or the admin account.

Could be worth checking out in case it's something similar?

Sorry I don't have more exact info to hand - the reference is in the office
and I'm at home...

That's the correct one t use make sure you follow every bit of info
carefully.

I followed the article again, and it seems to work now. Thanks. I've read an
article with more or less the same title, but it did other things in ISA. I
had to add all the norton/symantec liveupdate servers to the packet filters.

I am having the same problem and I am following the instructions carefully.

My difficulty starts at step 5 as when I click on live update in the "Norton
Antivirus Corporate Edition" console nothing happens except a logged message
that the manual update was unsuccessful.

Do you have any idea what I have missed?
