Logitech Mouse Driver
I have just installed a Logitech mouse driver to all
machines on our SBS 2000 domain, the build is: 9.78.0.0
dated July 2003, and someone had told me that the "Enter"
as the scroll button has now been taken off the listing.
All the other options are there, but the "Enter" button
(as if you click enter on the keyboard) is not present.
Anyone know why??
This is to do with the 3-button scroll mouse-which is the
same as the Microsoft Intellimouse.

Project Central & SUS
I have installed SUS SP1 on my SBS2000 server and now when I try to access
the Project Central default page I get this error:
Microsoft JScript runtime error '800a138f'
Object expected
/ProjectCentral/Library/sig.asp, line 6
I have tried to follow through the MS KBs on Project Central (the MSADC &
Iisadmpwd Virtual Directories, to name 2, were deleted by SUS), but I seem
to be getting nowhere.
Does anyone have any experience of this problem, and better still a fix?
TIA

Pricing for SBS 2003 and user licenses
Does anyone know what the pricing looks like for SBS 2003 and 5 users? or 10
users?
Dell is offering it as an option for $499, but unlike other products it does
not mention 5 user licenses are included. Can this be assumed?
Have any of you seen pricing on multiple user license add ons?
How are you all pricing systems that will be installed in the next month or
two?
Thanks for any help.

VPN timing out after a few minutes, interrupting Terminal Services session
I use VPN and Terminal Services to support remote SBS 2000 sites. Lately
I've been finding that the VPN connects, TS opens up, and I can start
working - but after approximately 2-3 minutes, the VPN shuts down, forcing
TS to disconnect. If I go through the cycle again, I can connect again and
work for another 2 - 3 minutes.
If it's relevant, I'm VPN'ing from my workstation on a SBS system to the
clients' SBS system. I'm having similar problems when VPNing from one
client to another, so I guess the problem isn't specific to my server.
Any idea why the VPN is timing out after 2 minutes or so? Tag: SBS 2000 Stand Alone Server Tag: 134676
Adding a router to a two nic setup
After reading many, many posts here about the advice of
adding a router to a two nic setup of SBS2000, I have
decided to go this route and add a router to our system to
help add another layer of defense. My question is if I do
this, what happens to all the current setups such as VPN,
Terminal Services, web proxy etc...
Will that all need to be reconfigured by hand or will
running the ICW again after setting up take care of all
this automatically?
After going through a steep learning curve on the SBS and
a couple of installs, everything is working great and I
hate to mess things up!
Thanks in advance!

Login from XP to SBS2000 domain is very slow.
It takes about 5 minutes onto the domainfrom any of out machines. As
far as I tell network bandwidth isn't a problem. The desktops and
server are both new Dell systems.
Any suggestions are welcome.

Trouble configuring incomming SMTP with dynamic IP.
Hi!
I have a pretty standard 2 NIC configuration.
- Local nic at address 192.168.1.10.
- WAN nic at address 192.168.10.10
- NAT router at 192.168.10.1
- ADSL connection with PPPoE and dynamic IP (handled by router).
This has been working good for a long time with POP3 mail, but now I decided
to switch to SMTP. This is what I did:
- Created a dyndns account and a domainname <myname>.dyndns.org.
- Configured my router to automatically update address at dyndns.org.
- Configured my router to forward port 25 to 192.168.10.10.
- Run the internet connection wizard to enable SMTP mail.
- Added *<at><mydomain>.dyndns.org to the "recipient policy/Default policy/E
mail policy".
- Added the email address "test<at><myname>.dyndns.org" to one of my
existing mail accounts.
Now I tried to send mail from the outside to "test<at><myname>.dyndns.org".
As soon as this was working, I would create an MX record for <mydomain>.com
pointing to <mydomain>.dyndns.org.
I did not succeed to send mail to "test<at><myname>.dyndns.org". I have
observed the following:
- The dyndns system seems to work OK, and I get a correctly updated A record
pointing to my public IP address 80.213.<something>.
- Port forwarding seem to work OK, and I succeed to reach the SMTP service.
- When I test my mail address "test<at><myname>.dyndns.org" from
www.dnsreport.com I get the error message "[Could not connect: Got an
unknown RCPT TO response: 550 5.7.1 Unable to relay for
test<at><myname>.dyndns.org".
I have also enabled relaying at my site, then www.dnsreport.com says OK, but
the mail is sent to my external smarthost. I quickly turned off relaying
again.
I'm stuck! What could be wrong ? Is it me or the SBS2000 ? Tag: SBS 2000 Stand Alone Server Tag: 134664
Data migration from HP (peer-peer) to W2K/SBS
We have purchased a W2K server with SBS installed and
I need to be migrate data from the current HP server
(peer-to-peer env.) to the W2K/SBS server via the current
network. However, given the "1-server" nature of SBS I
do not want to attach it to the current network (as is)
for fear it will take over as the primary server.
So...here's the question...Is there a way to make SBS act
like a 'client' until we are ready to cut-over to a
domain-based environment. My first assumption is to turn
off the server service - will that work?
Any help, guidance, or documentation (or steps) would
be greatly appreciated! Tag: SBS 2000 Stand Alone Server Tag: 134662
POP3 connector loosing mail
I am aware of a bug with the POP3 connector in Exchange
2000, sometimes loosing mail which is possibly the result
of a corrupt POP3 DB.
Has anyone used any tools to try and recover any of this
mail from the POP3 DB. As these sit outside of the
PRIV.EDB or PUB.EDB, tools like eseutil or isinteg won't
help me, I suspect.??
I believe this issue is resolved with an Service Pack
upgrade, but it doesn't help me with the lost mail now.
Thanks in advance. Tag: SBS 2000 Stand Alone Server Tag: 134661
SBS 2000 Error Messages after ICW
Hi,
I seem to be getting the following error messages in the event log after
running the ICW.
When running ICW, I chose to connect via a router with only one NIC. Setup
stated that ISA would not be configured. Only as Caching server I guess.
All clients are able to access the web no problems.
The first bunch of errors where reported before I rebooted the server:
Type: Error
Source: Web Proxy
Category: None
Event ID: 14120
Description:
The ISA Server services cannot create a packet filter 204.1.226.226. This
event occurs when there is a conflict between the LAT configuration and the
Windows 2000 routing table. Check configuration.
After rebooting the server, the above error did not re appear. However it
was replaced with slow logon to server and the following errors in the event
log:
Type: Error
Source: MSExchangeDSAccess
Category: Topology
Event ID: 2104
Description:
Process STORE.EXE (PID=3484). All the DS Servers in the domain are not
responding.
Type: Error
Source: MSExchangeAL
Category: Service Control
Event ID: 8250
Description:
The Win32 API call 'DsGetDCNameW' returned error code [0x862] The specified
component could not be found in the configuration information. The service
could not be initialised. Make sure he operating system was installed
properly.
Make sure he operating system was installed properly. Make sure he operating
system was installed properly. I sure don't need errors like this at this
stage...
Further up the event log it appears that everything has started ok. Web
access works no problem.
I'm thinking DNS problems here, but I have not changed anything from default
build.
Merv, Javier, Jeff... Can anyone shed some light.
Cheers, Mark

Sending email out through SBS from canon copier - help
Does anyone have any experience here.
We have recently had a one of those combo copiers installed on our SBS2K
network.
It copies , prints , faxes and emails. Everything works except emailing out.
It has been configured to send email through our exchange server at
192.168.0.2
I have enabled relaying within exchange for it's ip address of 192.168.0.18
Still won't work.
Is there something in ISA perhaps that needs to be configured ?

Help: Customer wants a special mail solution
A customer want the following solution for e-mail.
The server is a SBS2000 With exchange.
They have a bussines unit called BU1.
Several people work for this bussinis unit. All mail send from those whom
work for BU1, to the outside world, must be dropped in a group mail box
called BU1. They may not recieve the reply's on their own account. But they
must be able to recieve mail
(it's no problem if this should be only internal within the company)
So in short.
Employee1 that works for BU1 sends a mail. The reply adres must be set to

The owner of the BU1 mailbox will sort out the e-mail en forward this to

Group policy in SBS
We are currently running SBS2000 with around 30 Windows
2000 Pro clients.
As a security measure I have taken them out of the Local
Administrator group on their machines, so that they cannot
install/uninstall programs or change the time etc...
I think that it is now time for a Group Policy, where I
want to totally disable their machines in view of them
inserting CDs, Floppies or installing/uninstalling
software on the clients.
Can someone give me pointers on how to do this please.
Furthermore, if I want to install or read a CD from a
client, then I assume that I need to login as Domain
Administrator from the client, to override the Group
Policy??
Please help me.

XP Connections to NT Server Slow
Have just moved from SBS 4.5 with additional NT4 BDC to SBS 2000. We have
kept the NT4 server intact and the AD was made up from the original domain
using a spare box upgrade type migration. The NT4 box has integrated back
into the domain perfectly and is syncronising its database okay with the SBS
2000.
Client logins are working fine, with a mix of NT/2000/XP all authenticating
with the SBB server perfectly and the clients can also access shares on the
NT4 server okay proving that logging onto the 2000 DC is also allowing them
access to the NT4 server.
The problem I am having is that some XP users are having problems with the
shares on the NT4 server. Although they are seeing them and having no
problems 90% of the time, sometimes the connection becomes really slow and
it can take 5 minutes or more to open a small word document.
Anyone have any similar experiences or ideas of what could cause this?
Thanks,
Ric. Tag: SBS 2000 Stand Alone Server Tag: 134630

OT: Migrate NT4.0 to W2K
Hi,
Not related to SBS, but maybe someone has done this before.
I would like to upgrade a NT4.0 domain to a W2K AD domain, but the current
PDC is vital to the network.
Is it possible to add a BDC, promote this to a PDC, remove the original PDC
and upgrade the promoted PDC to W2K?
So if the upgrade fails, I can put the original PDC back in the network.

Dennis. Tag: SBS 2000 Stand Alone Server Tag: 134625

I've tried setting up the POP3 connector but continually
get Application Errors on the event viewer "Failed to

Looking at support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-

This was the only support article I could find.
Not sure where to go now.

High CPU Usage 90%+
After having rebuilt our server any previous problems have now been solved
however with nothing running on the server the CPU usage is very high 90%+.
The usage graph goes from 0% to 100% and back to 0% constantly over and
over.
This is with no users accessing the server...
Task manager does not show any other processes using a signiciant amount of
CPU other the "System idle processes"
It's a basic BSB2000 server running Echange, SQL Server and ISA
What is the best way to diagnose this ?
